It appears most of the United States is in a bitter cold snap this weekend. Here in Minnesota we woke up to temperatures well below zero and with the windchill factored in, temps were -35. Yes, you read that correctly, -35 Fahrenheit. I thought I would gather some family-friendly shows to watch on Netflix for you. These are all kid-appropriate but also fun for the parents to watch too. Most of these are favorites of my family that we enjoy watching and we will probably be watching some of these over the next few days as we stay home and try to stay warm.
Spirit Riding Free
Spirit Riding Free is one of Peyton’s favorite shows to watch. If you have a child in the house obsessed with horses you should give this show a try. I really enjoy watching Lucky and her friends explore the frontier on their horses. It’s a show the whole family can enjoy from the little to the adults. There are 8 seasons, and while I know Peyton has watched them all back to back to back, I highly suggest pacing them out. Maybe watch a few episodes and then have the kids do an activity inspired by the show. For example, you could make the famous Stone Cherry pie from Season 2. Or create a scavenger hunt.
There is also an interactive episode that is fun to watch because you can choose what the characters do! We’ve watched that a few times. And there are a few seasonal specials as well as Spirit Riding Free Riding Academy, where we follow Lucky and the gang to boarding school and Spirit Riding Free Pony Tails. We’ve seen it all in our family, more than once. It’s a series I enjoy and Peyton enjoys too.
Jurrasic World Camp Cretaceous
If you have a dinosaur loving in the house then this series is for them. We’ve always been huge fans of Jurrasic Park and Jurrasic World so when a series came out, Peyton and I knew we had to watch it. Currently, there are 2 seasons ready to watch but I sure hope they make more!
Camp Cretaceous takes place after the last Jurassic World movie. Fast forward a little bit and they have turned the park into a camp! 6 teens are invited to explore and test out Camp Cretaceous on Isla Nublar before it opens to the public. What they thought was going to be a fun, dinosaur camp turns into anything but that. The teens must work together to get off the island and back to the mainland.
Gabby’s Dollhouse
Gabby’s Dollhouse is a new show on Netflix geared towards our younger kiddos. Preschool children love this show! The colorful rooms, the cats, the simple crafts are all geared towards getting your littles imagination working. Currently, there is one season of Gabby’s Dollhouse available but I’m sure there will be more.
Boss Baby
If you have seen the movie Boss Baby you will want to check out the series. A Netflix Original that takes the characters we loved in Boss Baby, adds some new ones, and gives us hours of Boss Baby entertainment. There are 4 seasons of Boss Baby plus an interactive episode available on Netflix. I’m sure there will be more seasons coming as Boss Baby is a huge hit with the kids.
These are just a few of the amazing family programs available to watch on Netflix this weekend. Every show I told you about is a Netflix original so you never have to worry about them disappearing from Netflix!
