Easy Halloween Bento Lunch Idea for Kids
One of my favorite parts about packing school lunches is finding fun ways to celebrate the holidays. A simple cookie cutter can turn an ordinary lunch into something your child looks forward to opening at school.
For Halloween, I pulled out one of our favorite cookie cutters and transformed Peyton’s everyday peanut butter and jelly sandwich into a friendly little ghost. It only takes a few extra seconds, but it’s amazing how much more exciting lunch becomes when it’s a little festive.
A Halloween Lunch They’ll Actually Eat
Peyton has been on a peanut butter and jelly sandwich kick for what feels like forever. While I occasionally try suggesting something different, PB&J continues to be her favorite.
Rather than fighting it, I like changing up the presentation. Holiday cookie cutters make even the most familiar lunch feel brand new.
For this Halloween lunch, her ghost-shaped sandwich fit perfectly inside her Bentgo Kids lunch box and instantly became the star of the meal.
Fresh Fall Berries
While grocery shopping, we found beautiful blackberries and raspberries and decided to enjoy them while they were still in season.
The fresh berries add bright color to the lunchbox while giving Peyton a healthy serving of fruit. Their rich purple and red colors also fit perfectly with the Halloween theme.
A Lunchbox Favorite
If you’ve followed our lunch ideas for a while, you probably already know one thing about Peyton…
She absolutely loves Babybel cheese.
I’ve learned the hard way that replacing it with sliced or cubed cheese usually means it comes back home untouched. But a Babybel? That always disappears!
Sometimes it’s the little things that make a big difference.
Let Kids Help Pick the Menu
During our grocery trip, Peyton surprised me by choosing peach yogurt instead of one of her usual flavors.
She also helped pick out the fresh berries and spotted the Fall Harvest Crispy M&M’s, which made the perfect little Halloween treat.
I’ve found that letting kids help choose foods at the grocery store makes them much more excited to eat what’s packed in their lunch.
Interestingly enough, Peyton loves helping choose the food—but she doesn’t want to help pack the lunch. She enjoys opening her Bentgo box at school and being surprised by what’s inside.
A Balanced Halloween Lunch
Even though this lunch has a fun Halloween theme, it’s still filled with nutritious foods.
This lunch includes:
- Ghost-shaped peanut butter and jelly sandwich
- Fresh raspberries and blackberries
- Peach yogurt
- Babybel cheese
- Fall Harvest Crispy M&M’s as a small treat
It offers a nice balance of protein, dairy, fruit, and just a little bit of candy to celebrate the season.
Make Holidays More Fun with Bento Lunches
Holiday lunches don’t have to be complicated or expensive.
A simple cookie cutter, a few seasonal foods, and your child’s favorite lunch items can transform an ordinary meal into something they’ll be excited to eat.
Whether you’re packing lunches for Halloween, Valentine’s Day, Christmas, or any other holiday, adding a small festive touch is an easy way to make lunchtime a little more memorable.

My grandkids love peanut and jelly also. They want it every day and sometimes a couple of times a day. I love the ghost This is so cute. I try to include my grandchildren in what they eat whenever I can. Thank you for this great article
