How to Achieve Beautiful Healthy Skin as You Age

As you age, your skin tends to dry out, wrinkle, sag, and become ashen. However, there are many different ways to keep your skin glowing and healthy as you age. Cleansing routines, understanding your skin type, and its unique needs are just some of the things to think about over the years.

As you can learn from The Plastic Surgery Channel, liposuction and injectable fillers are also ways to enable you to achieve a beautiful and youthful look. Even when you consider these options, to make the effects last for long, try these tips as well.

Have a Daily Cleansing Routine

Dirt, oil, makeup, and pollution can all make your skin look older. Washing your face every morning and night is a great way to stop this from happening. Do not wear makeup for more than 16 hours in a day, too, as it coats your pores and clogs them with bacteria that will age the skin even faster. If you are prone to acne, make sure to keep your skin duly cleansed as well.

As for skincare products, stick with natural oils that will help to remove dirt and grime from deep within your pores. Also, check to see what ingredients a product has – if it has parabens or sodium lauryl sulfate, it’s probably best to avoid it.

Limit Sun Exposure

When skin is exposed to the sun for too long, it ages and becomes more likely to wrinkle and sag. An excellent way to prevent this is wearing sunscreen with an SPF of 40 or higher whenever you go outdoors. If you do not want to wear sunscreen, then make sure to cover yourself with a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, and long sleeves.

Up Your Intake of Nutrients and Vitamins

Take vitamin E supplements and eat foods that contain antioxidants like blueberries, cranberries, and raspberries. Antioxidants help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines by helping your skin heal itself after getting injured by the sun, wind, or other environmental factors. Add flaxseeds to your diet as well, which are good sources of omega-three fatty acids that prevent sagging skin.

Skin Treatments Are Great Options

Treat yourself to regular facials and chemical peels to keep your skin looking young. Chemical peels will help to remove dead skin cells and reveal the glowing skin underneath. If you are looking for a more affordable alternative, try using microdermabrasion kits at home or different types of exfoliating scrubs.

Supplement Collagen

As you age, collagen production decreases, which is why your skin starts to sag and look older. You can supplement collagen into your diet with foods that are high in protein or with collagen supplements.

Go for an Anti-Aging Moisturizer with Retinol

Retinol moisturizers help to remove dead skin cells faster, making your other skincare products more effective. They also help fade spots, tighten your pores, and reduce lines and wrinkles by aiding the skin’s natural collagen production. If an accident causes scarring on your face, consider laser treatments to smooth over the skin.

Age does not have to mean more wrinkles and sagging skin – be proactive in keeping it healthy, glowing and beautiful.
