To have a healthy lifestyle is what we all aim for, we all want to make healthier choices for our body and mind so what’s the best way to go about it. We have done the research for you and gathered a few ways you can target your body and mind and all in the comfort of your own home.
For Your Body
Your body is a temple and it should be treated that way. The human body is great and goes through alot in our lifetime, hormone changes, battle wounds, illness, creating children and much more, that’s why it is important to treat it with kindness and ensure it’s healthy for whatever life throws at it.
Exercise is a great way to get your body moving, stretch your muscles and relieve stress. Take 20 minutes out of your day to do a workout and raise your heartbeat. A few exercises you could try are:
- Jumping jacks
- Walkouts
- Burpees
- Squats
- Push ups
- Sit ups
If you are looking to gain a little more strength then consider adding some weights into your routine, some exercises with weights include:
- Military press
- Overhead tricep dips
- 1-arm dumbbell row
- Bicep curls
- Upright row
If you want to get some fresh air whilst you exercise then think about going for a run, bike ride or a brisk walk. Remember to stretch before and after you exercise as this will help you to recover and prevent you from pulling a muscle. Opt for one of your days to be a yoga or stretch day to help you with your flexibility.
For Your Mind
A healthy body needs a healthy mind to function, so it is important that you spend some time each day reflecting on your mental health and completing brain exercises. We spend most of our day working and although this uses our brains it often tires them, think about completing some brain games such as sudoku or crossword puzzles. There are also many apps out there that focus on exercising your mind and getting you to use parts of your brain you wouldn’t generally use during day-to-day life.
It is also good for your mind to shut off and relax from time to time. Take 10 minutes out of your day to meditate, practice mindfulness or spend some time reflecting on what you are grateful for. Take yourself off to a quiet area and focus on your breathing, think about all the things that make you happy and grateful. Having these thoughts to reflect on can help ground you and make you feel calm.
Now you know what you can do to make your body and mind healthy, put these practices into place. Remember it takes approximately 21 days to form a habit so try and stick it out for those three weeks and by then it should be second nature for you.
