Now, I’m not talking about disasters like an accident with another vehicle. I’m talking about your children. While they are adorable, little rays of sunshine, they are also mess makers in action. And where do they spend the most time? Well, I know my family spends a fair amount of time in the car which means my backseat has been taken over by children. Those kids are tough are cars. Like Tasmanian Devil hard. Remember seeing the Tasmanian Devil on Saturday morning cartoons growing up? That’s how I equate children in cars. They come in like a whirling crazed little person and when they stop their hands are looking for something to do. So today, I’m going to share with you a few things I use in my car to help keep my backseat looking as new as possible.
Seat Covers
I know this may sound obvious but I’m not talking about those little flimsy seat covers that you buy at Target that have cute little prints on them. Nope, I’m talking about a heavy duty seat cover with a waterproof backing that will save your upholstery. Let’s be honest, there are going to be times your kids eat in your vehicle or drink in your vehicle or when you pick them up from swimming or a waterpark. You do not want sticky apple juice or chlorine tushies all over your seats. No, you don’t! Trust me, you need to purchase a seat protector. Look for one that is geared towards pets as they stand up longer than the others I have tried.
Kick Mats
It doesn’t matter how many times I tell my child to keep her feet off the back of the seat that there are still footprints all over the back of my seats! It drives me nuts. Part of me would like to install some sort of contraption that shocks her foot every time she put it on the seat but that probably would be considered cruel. So in lieu of that, I use kick mats. Kick mats will save the back of your seats from muddy footprints and more. I tend to purchase the ones with little organization pockets as well. Keeping that backseat clean is a challenge as well so I’ll take all the help I can get.
Weathertech Floormats
Not just any floormat will do, I highly suggest investing in a set of Weathertech Floormats for your vehicle. You can purchase them at most dealerships. These are the best floormats around. They are made to fit your specific vehicle and have deep sides perfect for catching anything that may be brought into the vehicle on your shoes. Think about all that sand from the beach, it’ll be in the floormat. The best thing about these beauties is you take them out and wash them off!!! It’s all rubber so there is nothing to stain. I take them to the car wash a few times a year and have them pressure wash all the stuck on gunk off. They are lifesavers and save the floor of my SUV on a daily basis.
These are just a few of the items I use in my SUV to help keep it survive my daughter’s childhood and keep it looking new.
