There is a new movie hitting Paramount+ today! Jerry & Marge Go Large dropped on Pareamount+ this morning. This afternoon, Peyton and I took a little break from the heat and watched it.
What is Jerry & Marge Go Large about?
Jerry & Marge Go Large is based on a true story about Jerry and Marge Selbee, who win the lottery and use the money to revive their small town.
Jerry Selbee is a math wiz, like he can look at a situation and break it down mathematically, figure out the probabilities and it all makes sense to him. Jerry relates to the world through numbers. Jerry struggled to relate to people though.
Marge Selbee is Jerry’s wife. She’s a stay-at-home mom, now empty nester, that married Jerry right out of high school. She’s bubbly, energetic and has her routine around that makes the house run smooth.
At the beginning of the movie, we see Jerry retiring from the only job he has ever had. He’s struggling with retirement. Jerry really enjoyed working and if he had had the opportunity he would’ve continued working. But he is retired now and trying to figure out his new daily routine.
One morning, while Jerry is enjoying his coffee at the local store in town he read the back of a lottery advertisement. The lottery advertisement had the probability of winning. So, Jerry’s mind started running the number, and guess what? He figured out that if you bought a certain amount of tickets for an individual night you would win more than you bet. It’s all in the numbers!
Jerry, being the math genius that he is, decided to test his theory.
I’m not going to give away the whole story, you’ll have to watch Jerry & Marge Go Large for yourself.
But at the end of the day, Jerry finds a way to relate to the people in his town, Jerry and Marge find that zest they had for each back when they were in high school and the small town is revitalized.
It’s a touching story. There is a villain and I’m not going to tell you who it is but I will tell you it is not Jerry.
Jerry & Marge Go Large is now playing on Paramount+.
