The wait is finally over! Jurassic World Dominion is now in theaters nationwide. How excited are you to see this film? Peyton and I were honored to be invited to an early screener of this film. Peyton has been a fan of the Jurrasic Park/World franchise since she was about 3 years old. So she could not wait to sit in the theater and see the conclusion to Jurrasic World on the big screen.
Jurassic World Dominion is full of so much! You have our favorite iconic characters from Jurassic Park returning for the final movie PLUS all our favorites from Jurassic World. This will be a spoiler-free review so feel free to keep reading and don’t worry about finding out the ending.
First, we have our Jurassic Park alum, Laura Dern (Ellie Sattler), Sam Neill (Alan Grant), and Jeff Goldblum (Ian Malcolm) back for Dominion. Chris Pratt (Owen Grady) and Bryce Dallas Howard (Claire Dearing) reprise their roles from Jurassic World. It is like having all your favorite characters on screen at the same time! BD Wong (Dr Wu) is also back, he’s still a scientist with questionable morals and ethics but this time it appears he has a conscience and wants to try and atone for some of his earlier poor decisions.
Throughout the movie, there are hidden little gems referring back to previous movies. If you watch closely, you will see the original shaving cream can make a cameo appearance as well as those famous dinosaurs that spit venom on their prey.
This film has so much going on! It is about 2 1/2 hours long but moves at a nice pace so you will not even notice it.
Now as for the storyline —– We pick up a few years after the last Jurrasic World movie. It’s been four years since Isla Nublar has been destroyed. Dinosaurs now roam the earth. They live and hunt alongside humans. It’s a fragile balance. This new dynamic is reshaping the future of how humans will remain the apex predators on a planet. Or will they?
We really enjoyed the film. Jeff Goldblum delivers his dry humor perfectly throughout the film. The banter between Sam Neill and Laura Dern feels like no time has passed since Jurassic Park. Bryce Dallas Howard and Chris Pratt do a phenomenal job stepping into new roles now that Jurassic World is closed.
Is this kid-friendly? It is rated PG-13 for language, intense sequences of action, and some violence. I would say if your kid has seen other Jurrasic Park/Jurassic World movies this film is probably one of their more tame movies and they will do just fine. If you have a child that has an overactive imagination and they have not been able to handle the other Jurassic Park/Jurassic World movies then I would skip this one. Maybe have them watch Jurassic World Camp Creasteaus first and see how they do.
Jurassic World Dominion is a great film. I am actually sad it’s the last one in the franchise. But I feel like they did a good job of giving the characters realistic endings. Though I would be ok with making more films too!
