I remember when The Lion King first came out. It was instantly a hit with all ages. From young to old, everyone wanted to watch it. I also remember babysitting when it first came out for a family with boys. We watching The Lion King all. the. time. Nonstop! But I was fine with it because the music is phenomenal and the story line is adorable.
Now fast forward a few decades and I have my own little one. And guess what? The Lion King is her favorite too! She’s been watching it since she was born. You may be wondering how I had it when it has not been out on DVD for a long while. Well, I’m not like other parents. Some people collect stamps, some baseball cards. Me, I collect Disney movies. I bought the original DVD release with collectors book back in my 20s when it came out. And I’ll be honest, I’ve HATED sharing it with my daughter. It has been one of my prized possessions. But when she came on the scene she took it over. It kills me to see it the box set discarded casually on the floor while she watches the movie. I always kept it on a shelf before she was born.
Well, today she gets her own copy of The Lion King. Today, The Lion Kind is being released on Blu Ray! And I’m giving Peyton her very own copy so I can take my precious limited box set edition and return it to its shrine in my media collection.
The Lion King is one of my all time favorite Disney movies. When Peyton and I were at the Animal Kingdom last fall we took in The Lion King show. And I must admit – it’s ah-mazing! Timon, Pumba, and Simba are there! The singers and dancers are spectacular. We couldn’t get enough of the show! We both wanted to come back to the hotel room and watch The Lion King but we didn’t have it with us. After today, that won’t be an issue! You also get a digital copy of The Lion King when you buy the Blu Ray combo set! So next time, I can be sitting at the Art of Animation in The Lion King section watching my digital copy!!
If you’ve been waiting for The Lion King to come back to DVD or be available on Blu Ray, well, it’s here. Be sure to grab them before Disney snatches it back up and returns it to the vault. Even if you don’t have children or grand children right now I’d still grab a copy or two or ten. You know it won’t be out forever!
The Lion King can be found at all major retailers or online. Be sure to grab one for the holidays! It’s the perfect stocking stuffer.
