Come meet the Glimmer family! Famous singer Gloria Glimmer and her three darling daughters – Maddie, Mia and Lulu along with their father travel to London with thier Nanny Miss Julia. Gloria is in London to perform for the people and the family is along for the ride. While in London, the girls get to take in the sights. One day they headed out to the National Gallery with Miss Julia. While taking in the beautiful artwork Maddie witnesses a theft! She is determined to catch the thief and takes Miss Julia, Mia and Lulu along for the ride.
We really enjoyed London Art Chase. From a parents perspective the story is written well, fully developed plot, the characters are engaging and relocatable too and it’s a story I feel good about my daughter reading. Unlike other books there is no inappropriate language or situations. Just a good clean story about 3 sisters and thier nanny running around London trying to catch a thief. It’s like a Nancy Drew Deductive story with a more playful and upbeat story line. From a child’s perspective London Art Chase is entertaining. The sisters are just like typical sisters, they fight, they argue, they laugh and they stand by each other. Since Peyton is young I read the book to her and she loved it. Every night she begged for me to keep reading and keep going. And not once did she lose interest. I much rather spend an hour reading to her every night than her watching television. I also liked that there was not one part of the book I felt I needed to edit or skip over. Even though she’s only 5 years old I felt comfortable letting Peyton hear the whole story. Not one little one edited out.
London Art Chase is the first in a series Natalie Grant is writing. It’s a wonderful first book that helps get you acquainted with the Glimmer family. Each character is well developed with personality, quirks and all. It’s very easy for a you to picture this family in London and enjoy the story. So far there are 2 additional books available – A Dolphin Wish and The Miracle in Music City.
