Looking after yourself: How to indulge in a little self-care this month

These days, our health has never been more important. But before recent events took hold, looking after ourselves should have always been a priority. However, due to modern life and social pressure, it wasn’t always the case. Now that things have slowed down a little and most of us are confined to our homes for the next few months, there’s never been a better time to embrace a little self-care.

Self-care is defined as taking care of your body and your mind and taking steps to preserve one’s own wellbeing and happiness. We’re living in a stressful time right now, and self-care has never been more important. Don’t be fooled into thinking that self-care and looking after yourself is selfish (classic mum guilt here) – it’s actually vital for your mental and physical wellbeing.

Here we’ll look at how to indulge in a little self-care this month.

Finally, quit smoking

Everything is a little fraught right now and we’re all concerned about our families and staying safe. So, it’s only natural that we reach for something that provides comfort and relief. Therefore, the idea of giving up smoking right now may seem impossible. However, if you decide to quit smoking, you’ll increase your life expectancy, enjoy fresh and clean air in your home and not pass the habit onto your children. Many smokers who are hoping to quit switch to vaping products like the ones here on 88vape.com to consume nicotine without the additional chemicals and smoke. Check them out.

Get enough sleep

Do you get enough sleep? It’s a sad fact that very few of us do. Not only does a lack of sleep leave us feeling irritable, tired and unable to function, it can also lead to a whole host of health problems such as heart disease and high blood pressure. Prioritising sleep is essential, so ensure you have a good bedtime routine and avoid screens an hour before bed.

Get organized

When things are hectic and stressful, it can play havoc with your mental health and your overall wellbeing. As part of your self-care routine, take some time to ensure you’re organized. Appointments, important dates and other responsibilities can all get out of hand quickly if you’re not on top of things.

Read

It’s normal for us to reach for our phones and scroll social media, but did you know that it’s probably fuelling your anxiety and fear? If you have a spare minute, reach for a book instead. Better yet – a book on self-care!
