Morning Magic

I am always on the lookout for new children’s books.  I feel that reading to your child is very important and try to do it everyday. Morning Magic by Giles Smith is a great book for children who love magic or witches. The main character in the book is Emily, a little girl who attend Magic School. When we first meet Emily she’s trying to get ready for school but she’s having issues getting into her dresser drawers. Just like every kid getting ready for school in the morning, Emily cannot find her clothes. So she decides to use her magic skills to get things done. Well the first time she uses a spell she decided to make it up. It didn’t go too well. She was able to get into her dresser but now her room was a mess! Clothes were everywhere. So with the suggestion of her pet Frog, Paul, Emily decides to refer to her Magic book for a spell to help her dress.

Morning Magic by Giles SmithIt did take Emily a few tries to get it right. But that’s what happens when you are learning. By the end of the story little Emily is on her way to school. My daughter loved listening to Morning Magic. Right now she’s into witches and thinks it’s so neat Emily gets to go to a school where she can learn magic all day long. I like the book because kids can relate. I know for us every morning is a rush and struggle to get ready because, just like Emily, my daughter cannot find her clothes. It seems like every morning her shoes take a magical trip to an undisclosed location and we spend at least 10 minutes trying to find them. I also liked how Emily had to practice her spells before she got it right and they showed how it takes work. I know for us, Peyton gets frustrated when she has to do things more than once. So it was good that Emily had to repeat her spell to get dressed several times before she got it right.

Morning Magic is the first book in a series! We will be following along on Emily’s adventures as new books are released. You can pick up your own copy of Morning Magic on Amazon.
