In today’s crazy fast pace world, families are constantly on the go. I know Peyton and I are always running somewhere. During the week we leave the house by 8 am and do not return until 6 pm. Then I rush to get dinner on the table, make sure Peyton reads every night, attempt to do a little laundry and cleaning around the house and try to fit in a little work before bed. During all that time I’m running around, Peyton and I are really not connecting. She’s doing her thing and I am doing my thing. That’s where My Gnome on the Roam comes in.
My Gnome on the Roam recognizes that families are busy. We are so busy that connecting seems to be on the way back burner for us. Not because we want it that way but because we get caught up in everything we have going on that we don’t realize that we are not connecting with our children or family.
My Gnome on the Roam encourages us to take time, slow down and really connect as a family. They do this by giving you a little gnome that you and your family can design. Peyton and I are heading to the store to get some paints. She has a plan for this little guy. But until then, he’ll be our little white gnome that we have with us.
Inside the kit is also the story of My Gnome on the Roam by Anne Armstrong. While reading the story you’ll meet Gustav, he’s the original Gnome on the Roam. Gustav is a garden gnome that has the travel bug, he wants to explore the world and see what lays beyond the garden and his yard. He longs to see what’s beyond the picket fence that keeps him in. But he had no way to get beyond the fence.
Then one day, a little girl came to visit the owner of the house, who happened to be the little girl’s grandmother. This little girl helped make Gustav’s dream come true! But you’ll have to read the book to find out how. Sorry, I can’t tell you everything! However, I will tell the book is adorable and Peyton loves reading it. She’s even taken to coloring the pages in the book helping the story come to life even more!
You’ll also get your own journal so you can write down your own adventures. You can write about your travels, draw pictures of where you’ve been and so much more! It’s a great way for you and your family to slow down and spend time together while writing down your journies.
Once your family has decorated your gnome and given him or her a name you go online and register your gnome! There are also coloring sheets and you can read other families adventure with their gnomes. You can even share your stories too!
