One of my favorite beverages is tea. We don’t really drink soda in our house but I always have a pitcher of tea in the refrigerator. But one drawback to making your own tea is having to boil water and brew it. It can be a process and I don’t always have time to sit and watch it. That is why I am now making my tea in my Ninja Foodi. Did you ever think you could use your Ninja Foodi to cut the brew time of your tea to nearly nothing? Well, you can!
To make this delicious peach tea at home you will need the following –
12 C Water
1/4 tsp Baking Soda
6 Ice Tea Bags
1/3 C Honey
4 Large Peaches
1/2 C Sugar
Now if you don’t have a pressure cooker you can still brew your tea the old fashion way with boiling water and let it steep. But still use the baking soda, it really helps to neutralize the tannins giving your tea a balanced taste.
In your Ninja Foodi, pour 3 cups of water. Add in 6 tea bags, be sure to remove the paper tab if there is one, you can leave the string on or remove it, whichever you feel most comfortable with. Add in the baking soda. Place your pressure cooker lid on the Ninja Foodi, make sure the vent is set to close. Select the pressure cooker setting, high, 5 minutes.
Once the time is up, let the Ninja Foodi do a natural release for 5 minutes. Then open the vent and depressurize the Ninja Foodi completely. Remove the tea bags.
Stir in the honey until dissolved.
Add 7 cups of water.
You can either let it cool it in the Ninja Foodi or pour into a pitcher and let it cool there.
Slice and peel the peaches.
Place in a medium-size saucepan with the sugar and enough water to cover the peaches, for me that was about 2 C of water.
Bring the mixture to a boil over medium to high heat.
Lower the heat and start mashing the peaches. You can use a potato masher or a wooden spoon to do this. Whatever you use it needs to be sturdy enough to mash a peach.
Once the sugar is dissolved and you’ve mashed your peaches it’s time to let the mixture steep. Remove the pan from the heat and cover, let it sit for about 30 minutes.
When the 30 minutes are up it’s time to strain your peach simple syrup! Or if you like chunks of fruit in your tea you can leave it as is. But I prefer to strain it.
Add the peach simple syrup to your tea mixture and stir.
Serve chilled over ice. You can garnish with peaches, lemon or mint. Or just enjoy with ice.
If you have picky tea drinkers, you can also add the simple syrup a glass at a time. Pour the simple syrup in a separate pitcher and keep in the fridge until you need to use it. I just combine it all because it’s much easier.
