Patriotic Pretzel Treats

These patriotic pretzel treats are perfect for any patriotic holiday or event you are celebrating. They are also extremely easy and quick to make. I brought them to our last family gathering and it was an absolute hit! The salty pretzel pairs perfectly with the sweet chocolate.

To make this delicious treat you will need the following –

12 Pretzel Rods
1 bag red melting chocolates
1/2 bag dark blue melting chocolates
1/2 bag bright white melting chocolates
Patriotic Sprinkles (if desired)
Wilton Tall Dipping Containers (1)
Ziploc Bag (2)
Wax Paper

First, we need to prepare the red chocolate. You can use any of the colors for your base just remember you will need a full bag of whatever color you use for the base. Take the red melting chocolates and place them in the Wilton Tall Dipping Container. Then place in the microwave and melt on 30-second intervals, stirring in between intervals, until melted smooth.

Do not skip the stirring step! If you do, your chocolate will become lumpy and may burn on the bottom.

Next, lay your wax paper out on the counter with the wax side up. You’ll want a large enough piece for 12 pretzel rods to lay next to each other with about a one-inch space between them.

Take a pretzel rod and dip into the melted red chocolate about 3/4 of the rod. Be sure to let the excess chocolate drizzle off the pretzel before laying it on the wax paper.

While the red chocolate sets up it’s time to get the blue and white chocolate ready to drizzle. Place 1/2 bag of the blue in a zip loc bag and 1/2 bag of the white in another zip loc bag. Melt each bag in 30-second intervals, be sure to knead them in between intervals, until melted.

Once the chocolate has melted, snip the edge of the bag and start to drizzle them over the red chocolate covered pretzels.

If you are planning on using sprinkles be sure to have them ready. You’ll want to sprinkle them as soon as you are done drizzling the blue and white chocolates.

Finally, let them set up. Should take about 10 minutes. If it’s hot or humid you may need to pop them in the fridge for a few minutes. Be sure to keep them cool until you are ready to serve them or the chocolate may start to melt.
