Another no-bake dessert the kids can help you make for the holidays, Santa Oreo Cookies! Chocolate covered anything is always a hit in my house so these Santa Oreo Cookies always disappear just as fast as I can make them. They are simple to make and there is no baking involved, just a microwave for melting the chocolate, so this is a recipe that the kids can get in and help with.
To make these Santa Oreo Cookies you will need the following –
24 Oreo Cookies
1 bag Red Chocolate Wafers
1/2 bag Black Chocolate Wafers
1/2 bag Yellow Chocolate Wafers
Small Round Tip and Piping Bag or Bottle
Wax Paper
Glass bowl
Fork
Your first step is to lay out a long strip of wax paper to prep the area you will be working in.
Next, pour all the red chocolate wafers in a microwave-safe bowl and heat in 30-second intervals until all the wafers are melted and the consistency is smooth. Be sure to stir the wafers after each 30-second interval.
Drop an Oreo into the melted red chocolate. With a fork, pick up the chocolate covered Oreo and gently tap off the excess chocolate.
Lay the Oreo on the wax paper and let it completely harden, it should take about 10-15 minutes.
Next, place the black chocolate wafers in a small bottle and melt in 30-second intervals. Be sure to stir the chocolates in between 30-second intervals. You can also use a baggie and place the chocolate wafers in the baggie to microwave. Be sure to knead the bag in between intervals. Then use a piping bag and a small round tip to pipe the chocolate.
Pipe a thick black “belt” across the middle of the red chocolate covered Oreo. Let it harden, about 5-10 minutes.
Now it’s time to add a belt buckle! Place the yellow chocolate wafers in a bottle or baggie and melt them like you did the black chocolate wafers.
Pipe a rectangle or square buckle over the black belt. Let the yellow chocolate harden, another 5-10 minutes.
Store in an airtight container in a cool place. If you do decide to store in the fridge take them out about a half-hour before you would like to serve them so the chocolate can come up to room temperature.
