Slow-Cooker Candied Carrots

November 19, 2020 By Shanna Leave a Comment

Candied carrots were a staple of my childhood. We had them several times a month. They went with nearly any meal we were having and always tasted delicious. I wanted to try and recreate those candied carrots but without having to babysit them on the stove top. So, I tried making candied carrots in the slow-cooker. And it worked. And it was so easy.

To make candied carrots you will need the following –

1 bag (32 oz) Baby Carrots
1/2 tsp Kosher Salt
1/2 C Brown Sugar
2 tbsp Butter
1 tbsp Parsley, chopped, optional

This is an extremely simple recipe that I think is virtually impossible to screw up.

Take a 3 1/2 quart to 4 quart slow cooker and spray it with cooking spray. This will help keep the carrots from burning and sticking to the sides.

Pour the bag of carrots in to the slow cooker. Add the salt, brown sugar, and butter to the pot.

Place the lid on the slow cooker.

Set the slow cooker to high and let it cook for 4-5 hours. You’ll know they are done when the carrots are tender.

About 2 hours in, stir the carrots so they are coated with the brown sugar butter mixture.

When the carrots are done you can either serve them directly from the slow cooker or you can pour them into a bowl. If you do serve them from the slow cooker be sure to stir them so the carrots are coated in the brown sugar and butter sauce.

These are the easiest carrots I have ever made and they are always a crowd-pleaser.

Check out some of our other slow-cooker recipes. Perfect meal solutions for those nights you don’t have time to cook.
