I really enjoyed the movie Soul and was looking for some ways to help other families enjoy the film. Well, it’s winter and everyone is watching it from home so I thought of a warm cup of cocoa! Plus, with hot cocoa bombs being all the rage right now I thought the kids would really enjoy this Soul Cocoa Bomb recipe.
To make a batch of Soul hot cocoa bombs you will need the following –
Light Blue Melting Chocolates
Hot Cocoa Mix
Marshmallows
Blue Skies Ahead Sprinkles
Dome Silicone Mold
A little note about the sprinkles, a joined the How to Cake It sprinkle of the month club this month. Blue Skies Ahead is one of the surprise sprinkles in the box and it could not be more perfect for this cocoa bomb! It has blue and green jimmies, various pearls, and little gold star confetti! It is a great sprinkle mix for this cocoa bomb!
First, layout your silicone mold and whatever tool you are going to be using to spread the chocolate. I’ve used the back of a spook and a paintbrush. I prefer the brush method over the spoon but either works just fine.
Melt the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals. Be sure to stir the chocolates after each 30-second heating cycle.
Once the chocolate is melted pour a little into each dome mold. Spread around to cover the entire dome, make sure there are no thin areas or holes. If you can see the silicone through the chocolate then you need more chocolate.
Let the chocolate cool. Once it’s hard, gently pop the chocolate spheres out of the silicone mold and place on counter.
You can either use a warm plate of a pan on the stove over low heat. You need a warm surface to melt the edges of the domes. Take half of your domes and melt the edges by places them edge side down on a warm surface and move them around until you have a even clean edge. Remove and lay with the open side up on the counter.
Fill the domes with you just made clean edges on with hot cocoa. You can either use a hot cocoa packet or a tablespoon scoop from a large container of cocoa mix.
Add in your favorite marshmallows.
Take the other domes, that you have not melted and melt the edge until it’s smooth. Then place on the filled dome turning it into a cocoa bomb! Smooth off any excess chocolate with a paper towel and set aside to dry for a few minutes. Repeat until you have completed all your cocoa bombs.
This works best with a silicone cupcake liner because it helps keep the cocoa bombs from rolling away. Place a cocoa bomb in a silicone cupcake line.
Melt a handful of the chocolate wafers in a sandwich baggie at 30-second intervals. Be sure to remove them and massage the bag in between each 30-second interval.
Once the chocolate has melted, snip the corner edge of the bag and drizzle them over the cocoa bomb. I suggest doing one cocoa bomb at a time because the chocolate sets up pretty quickly.
Add the sprinkles to the drizzle and let set up.
Once the Soul cocoa bombs have set completely you can either store in an airtight container or individual baggies.
To enjoy – place Soul cocoa bomb in your favorite mug, pour 8 ounces of warm milk in cup, stir, and enjoy!
