How to Make Deep Fried Oreo Cookies
Step 1: Prepare Your Frying Station
Before you begin frying, line a large plate with several layers of paper towels.
This is where you’ll place the finished cookies to absorb any excess oil.
Step 2: Make the Batter
In a shallow bowl, add the biscuit baking mix.
In a separate bowl, whisk together:
- Egg
- Milk
Pour the wet ingredients into the biscuit mix.
Whisk until the batter is smooth with no large lumps remaining.
Step 3: Heat the Oil
Pour vegetable oil into your deep fryer or heavy pot.
Heat the oil to 375°F.
Maintaining the proper oil temperature ensures the cookies become golden brown without absorbing too much oil.
Step 4: Coat the Oreo Cookies
Dip one Oreo cookie into the batter.
Turn it until completely coated.
Lift it out and gently allow any excess batter to drip back into the bowl.
Removing excess batter helps the cookies cook evenly.
Step 5: Fry
Carefully lower the battered Oreo into the hot oil.
Cook for approximately 1–2 minutes per side, turning once, until the outside is evenly golden brown.
Avoid overcrowding the fryer. Fry just a few cookies at a time to help maintain the oil temperature.
Step 6: Drain
Remove the cookies with a slotted spoon.
Place them on the prepared paper towel-lined plate to drain.
Step 7: Finish
Dust generously with powdered sugar.
Serve immediately while they’re still warm and gooey inside.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use regular Oreos?
Yes! However, Double Stuf and Mega Stuf Oreos create a creamier center after frying.
Why is my batter falling off?
Be sure the batter isn’t too thin and allow any excess to drip off before placing the cookies into the hot oil.
Can I make these in an air fryer?
While possible, they won’t have the same crispy carnival-style texture as traditional deep frying.
What oil is best for frying?
Vegetable oil, canola oil, or peanut oil all work well because of their high smoke points.
