State Fair Deep Fried Pizza Rolls

You can all thank my nephew for this one. He LOVES pizza so I thought I would try my hand at making a Deep Fried Pizza Roll. It’s extremely easy, full of flavor and a huge hit with the kids. I had both kids tell me they much rather I make these deep fried pizza rolls than the store-bought ones. This just feels like a state fair food too. We love everything fried at the Minnesota State Fair.

To make these State Fair Deep Fried Pizza Rolls you will need the following –

1 can Pizza Dough
1 C Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
1/2 C Mini Pepperoni
Grated Parmesan Cheese
Marnina Sauce
Melted Butter
Oil

I used a deep fryer for this recipe but you could also use an air fryer.

Set up your deep fryer. Pour the oil in the fryer and set it to 375. If you are using a large pot heat your oil over medium to high heat.

Roll out the pizza dough and slice into 14 equal pieces.

Place a generous amount of mozzarella cheese and mini pepperoni in the center of each piece of pizza dough.

Pull the edges together of the pizza dough and roll into a ball. You want to make sure the dough is closed tightly, otherwise, it will open when you are frying them.

Gently drop a few balls into the heated oil. Cook each ball until golden brown, about 1-2 minutes on each side. You will need to roll them or flip them to ensure even frying on each side.

Remove from the fryer and place on paper towels to absorb excess oil.

While the pizza rolls are fryer, heat up your marinara sauce.

Brush each pizza ball with a little melted butter and roll in the parmesan cheese.

Serve with warm marinara sauce.

These are best served warm.

The deep fried pizza rolls were a hit with the kids. They are them all and cannot wait for me to make these again. From a parents point of view, these were easy to make and I would much rather they enjoy these than a frozen food that’s been in our freezer for who knows how long.

Don’t forget to check back tomorrow to see what Minnesota State Fair inspired food we are making. Also, be sure to check out our other state fair recipes.
