We are starting our last week of Minnesota Fair Foods this week and first up is a recipe for loaded totchos! Totchos are a staple at the Minnesota State Fair. You can find them over by the barns and I believe one other place. But honestly, any potatoes that are smothered in toppings is a yes in my book. And tonight, we have a twist on these totchos by making them fully loaded with yummy ranch-flavored sour cream and toppings.
You will need the following to make Loaded Totchos at home –
Tater Tots
1 C Sour Cream
1 C Ranch Dressing
1 C Shredded Cheese
Real Bacon Bits
Parsley (optional)
Bake or fry your tater tots per the directions on the package. I baked mine in the oven because I feel like I’ve done a ton of fried foods this month! Thought I would do the somewhat healthier option.
While the tater tots are baking it’s time to make the ranch-flavored sour cream. Take 1 c of sour cream with 1 c Ranch dressing. You want the bottled dressing, not the seasoning. If you only have the seasoning you can use about 1 tbsp and then a splash of milk to thin it out. The main difference will be the salty factor. The seasoning packet is very salty compared to the bottled ranch dressing. Mix the ranch and sour cream together until they are well combined.
Once the tater tots are finished, remove them from the over or fryer and let them sit for a few minutes.
First, plate the desired amount of tater tots on a plate.
Pour over the ranch-flavored sour cream on the tater tots.
Sprinkle shredded cheese on top of the sour cream and tater tots.
Sprinkle a few bacon bits on top of the cheese.
Then get ready to enjoy!
Don’t forget to check back tomorrow to see what Minnesota State Fair inspired food we are making. Also, be sure to check out our other state fair recipes.
