Do you have a basket full of socks? You know, where there’s just one sock. You cannot find it’s mate so you stick it in the basket hoping that one day the other will turn up? Well, after reading The Great Sock Secret I know where all those missing socks are!
In The Great Sock Secret we meet Sarah and her mother. Sarah’s mother is doing laundry and is frustrated with the amount of odd socks in the sock basket. I can relate! So she suggests they go on a sock hunt and find some missing socks! But Sarah knows were the socks have gone. The fairies have taken them and used them for various things like beds, boats, hammocks and more. Now it is up to Sarah to stop her mom from discovering the fairies. Can she do it?
They start out in Sarah’s room. The fairies like to hang out under the bed so Sarah decides to check there while her mom checks the wardrobe. To keep her mom from checking under the bed Sarah distracts her by asking her to look behind the door. When mom finds no socks she suggest they move on to the bathroom.
They were not successful in the bathroom at finding socks either. While Sarah’s mom looked high and low Sarah tried to keep the sink covered up. That’s where the fairies were playing, and they had socks!
Next was on to Sarah’s brother’s room. Oh what a mess that place was! But mom found a sock! She was able to match one pair. And after an extensive search with only 1 pair found she decided to give up the hunt.
The Great Sock Secret is a really cute story. The pages are filled with illustrations by Gwynneth Jones portraying fairies playing throughout Sarah’s home with socks. Your child will be giggling as you read the story and they take in all the silly antics of the fairies.
