The Grinch Cocoa Bomb

Thanks to Tik Tok cocoa bombs are all the rage right now. And since we love The Grinch I thought about making a Grinch Cocoa Bomb.  Our Grinch hot cocoa went over so well with all last year I thought you would like a twist on the cocoa. So today, we are making Grinch Cocoa Bombs! I made them with the bigger molds because that’s what I had on hand. But, to be honest, you can use any silicone mold you want to make hot cocoa bombs.

To make these Grinch Cocoa Bombs you will need the following –

Vibrant Green Chocolate Wafers
Peppermint Cocoa Mix
Peppermint Marshmallows
Grinch Sprinkle Mix
Silicone Molds

First up is to prep your silicone molds. Make sure they are clean and dry. Check for any fuzzies.

Then, in a microwave-safe bowl melt the green chocolate wafers in 30-second intervals in the microwave. Be sure to stir the chocolate wafers after every 30 seconds.  Continue to melt until the chocolate is smooth.

Spoon the chocolate into the silicone mold. Using a spoon, push the chocolate up the sides of the mold.

Let the chocolate harden. It took mine about 10 minutes.

If your chocolate layer is thin or if you can see the mold through the chocolate, repeat with a second coat of chocolate.

Once you have the desired thickness of chocolate and it has hardened it is time to pop them out of the silicone mold.

To get nice clean even edges I like to place a skillet on the stove over low heat. Then I place each sphere, edge side down, on the pan for just a few seconds to melt the spheres edges so they are even.

Next, take half the spheres and fill them with peppermint cocoa mix and marshmallows. You can even add a few sprinkles inside as well.

I know I said to use grinch sprinkles and it can be difficult to find a mix so I made my own. I took a holiday sprinkle mix and added in red confetti hearts.

Melt a little more chocolate in a sandwich baggie. Once the chocolate is melted, snip the corner. You are going to use this to pipe around the edges of the sphere. This is going to be your “glue” that holds the cocoa bomb together.

Pipe one sphere with the melted chocolate around the edge and place it on the opposite sphere. For example, if you pipe an empty sphere place it on a filled sphere. If you pipe a filled sphere place an empty sphere on top. Smooth any excess chocolate to fill in any crack or little holes.

Roll the cocoa bomb in your sprinkles. This adds a little decorative touch and hides the seam.

And lastly, you can drizzle a little chocolate on top for a finishing touch.

These make great gifts. Just be sure to add a little tag that lets the recipient know what to do with it. I would suggest using warm milk to pour over the chocolate to make the drink.

Be sure to check out our other holiday baking recipes.
