The Princess Twins and the Tea Party

Review DisclosurePeyton is just starting to read so I am always looking for a chapter book that will engage her and encourage her to read. Currently, Peyton is reading at a D level and I would say The Princess Twins and the Tea Party is a challenge for her but she can manage through it. In The Princess Twins and the Tea Party we catch up with Emma and Abby and get to read all about setting up a tea party and find out about the hiccups along the way.

The Princess Twins and the Tea Party by Mona HodgsonEmma is extremely stressed about the tea party turning out perfectly. Shortly after she wakes up she rushes to the kitchen to make sure the baker is making the perfect cakes for the party. Emma is concerned he may forget the sugar! But the baker reassures her he has  not forgotten the sugar and the cakes will turn out perfect.

Once Emma is assured the cakes are under control she sets out to check up on the room.  Immediately she notices the napkins and starts to refold each and every one. After the napkins are perfect she starts to look for the name cards. Emma cannot find them anywhere. And she also has not seen her sister Abby. So she sets off to find them both.

In the hallway, Emma runs into Abby and the name cards go flying in the air. Instantly Emma is distraught and tells Abby now they have to make new name cards. Abby looks confused and tells Emma the cards are fine. Emma has been trying to make everything perfect for the party and she tells Abby about it. Abby reminds Emma that only God is perfect and everything will be fine.

Now Emma is more relaxed and ready to enjoy the party. The doorbell rings and all of Abby and Emma’s friends are there. When they enter the tea room, Emma sees a puppy by the table. As she tries to reach the puppy and take him outside Emma accidently steps on the puppies tail. With all the commotion the table gets knocked over and the plates go everywhere.

Before Emma had spoken with Abby she would have been devastated about the mess. But now Emma just laughs and goes with the mess.

The Princess Twins and the Tea Party is a light, fun children’s book. My daughter was engaged and thought it was hilarious the puppy destroyed the tea party. There is also a story to be learned – No one is perfect and you cannot stress over the small things in life.
