Three Ways to Use Signs Around Your Home

We all want to live in a nice home, which is why so many of us spend a significant amount of our time decorating. But, very few of us think to use signs to help us to protect our property and keep it looking at its best. The other day I was looking at mysecuritysign.com and realized there are lots of different types of signs available. Below, are some of the ways you could use them.

To protect your home

There are several ways you can use signage to protect your home. Here are the 3 main ones.

No dumping signs

If you have a big yard or one that backs onto a public space or road, you may have a problem with people dumping their rubbish there. Putting up a no dumping sign can really help to stop this from happening.

In some states, you can add a fine to the sign, which will act as an even bigger deterrent to would-be violators. Often, you will not be able to enforce the fine. But potential dumpers will not know that so these signs are surprisingly effective.

CCTV signage According to a study carried out by the UNC Charlotte of Criminal Justice 40% of convicted house breakers would leave and target another property if the saw security cameras. A compelling reason to put up cameras and advertise the fact you have them using a sign.

Even if you do not have the cash to install this type of security system it may be worth putting up CCTV signage anyway. Combined with fake cameras you should be able to convince most speculative house breakers that you have a full home security system installed.

Neighborhood Watch signs

Letting criminals know that you live in a Neighborhood Watch area, will also deter many of them. The more people that put these signs up the more likely it is that home invaders and vandals will go elsewhere.

To warn your family and visitors of hazards

Putting up signs around the home to warn people of potential hazards can greatly reduce the chances of an accident. Examples include mind your head signs, no running signage near your pool and beware of the dog signage.

To decorate your home

Metal signs are well made and look interesting, which makes them ideal for decorating your home. A stop sign on a child’s bedroom door is a fun way to make it look a bit different. Direction and location signs can be used to decorate an office, den or playroom.

It is even possible to order customized metal and plastic signs. These can make interesting gifts as well as be used to decorate your own home. For example, if a friend of yours has just returned from a special holiday you could buy them an appropriate place name sign to remind them of their trip.

There are hundreds of different signs available online. Taking a look at a website that sells them will, no doubt, enable you to come up with even more fun and interesting ways to use them in and around your home.
