One of my favorite memories from school was in 8th grade. In 8th grade, we took a trip to Washington D.C. and got to visit historical monuments, see historical documents and take tours of the Smithsonian. Time for Kids has come out with Our Nation’s Documents – a book focused on our nation’s history in a way children can relate to.
This is Time for Kids third installment in a series to teach kids about the history of the United States. Our Nation’s Documents offers annotated surveys of American history’s foundational works with up-to-date scholarship and more than 200 full-color photos and illustrations. This guide provides young readers with the basic information they need to know about the establishment of our government, and gives a historical perspective on current political events. This collection of documents includes The Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution with the Bill of Rights and amendments, plus excerpts from the Federalist Papers and much more.
Included are the following documents –
Declaration of Independence
U.S. Constitution
Monroe Doctrine
Emancipation Proclamation
14 Points
Economic Bill of Rights
Truman Doctrine
There is also a timeline of the documents which shows pivotal moments throughout our history. And with a “Meet the Author” section with each document, your child will learn about the President or Policy Maker that helped create each document. The accompanying photos help to bring the history to life and engage your child.
Our Nation’s Documents is available to purchase at your local bookstore or online.
