When our children are born we look at them and think about all the wonderful things they will do with their lives, what their first words will be and we look forward to watching them and helping them discover the world around them. Piccoli has created a program that can help children learn to talk and also learn other languages through play.
I was first introduced to Piccoli a few years ago at the Chicago Toy Fair, the founder Kimberly Rogers was there and we had a little chat about Piccoli and what it means to families. Kimberly created Piccoli to help her own son, who suffered from hydrocephalus, a genetic brain disease, learn to talk again.
Piccoli takes plush ponies and combines them with an online app that helps children learn a language. It’s a technology-based company that takes learning and fun and combines them to help children learn foreign languages.
There are several different ponies to choose from to use with the app.
There is the Classic Horse – this is the one I saw at Toy Fair. It’s the first Piccoli horse and comes in brown, tan and black. They are about 14 inches and are perfect for snuggling with when not being used with the app.
The Piccoli Mini Horse is perfect for smaller hands or a child that wants to take their horse with them everywhere but doesn’t want the bulk of the 14-inch horse. The mini horse is about 6 inches.
And the final horse is the racehorse. The racehorse is named Red Velvet. Red Velvet is a chestnut horse, the same chestnut color that many of the horses are that win the Kentucky Derby. His neck is adorned with a wreath of red roses and his feet have handsome silver shoes.
Once you’ve chosen your horse and he arrives at your home, log on to the website and discover his name! Each Piccoli Horse is given a unique name and there is no other Piccoli Horse with that name. But to find out what your horse’s name is you need to log on and register him. You can also give your horse a nickname as well.
Now, you’ve registered your horse, given him a nickname it’s time to download the app and let the learning fun begin! The app is free and is child-friendly/safe.
