Peyton loves it when I buy her those long skewers filled with candy and marshmallows. She goes crazy for them! But I always get a little disappointed in them because the candies can be smooshed or dried out. So it dawned on me, this is something we could make at home. We could make our own Valentine’s Candy Skewers! And we could put all our favorite candies on them so no more candies that we hate! It’s a win-win. Plus, they are fun to make. These would also be great for birthday parties too. Just switch out the candies to match the theme!
To make these Valentine’s Candy Skewers you will need the following –
Bamboo Skewers
Airheads Rainbow Strips
Large Marshmallows
Heart-Shaped Marshmallows
Gummy Frogs
Jelly Hearts
Jelly Sugar Hearts
Assorted Valentine’s Day Candies
Heart Sprinkles
Candy Sprinkles
Milk Chocolate
The first step is to melt your chocolate. In a microwave-safe bowl, pour about a half-cup to a cup of chocolate. Melt in 30-second intervals, be sure to stir in between intervals, until smooth.
Dip half of a marshmallow in chocolate then roll in sprinkles. Lay on wax paper to harden.
Take your bamboo skewer and layer with different candies. Be sure to alternate so you have a colorful skewer.
You can purchase pretzel rod sleeves to keep them fresh or store in a long storage container.
These are a huge hit with the kids.
To display, you can either lay them on a plate, arrange them in a vase or get a piece of foam and stick them in. It can be a centerpiece too!
