Valentine’s Day Sugar Cookies

Everywhere you look there are Valentin’s Day decorations, candies, and treats. So we are going to kick off Valentine’s Day season with some Valentin’s Day sugar cookies.  These are just as tasty as they look.

These Valentine’s Day Sugar Cookies are perfect for afterschool snacks, Valentine’s Day parties or even for teacher gifts. We are actually gifting a plate full of treats to Peyton’s school so the teachers have some tasty treats to snack on in between classes this Valentine’s Day.

To make a batch of these Valentine’s Day Sugar Cookies you will need the following –

Valentine's Day Sugar CookiesFor the Cookies –

• 1 Cup Butter
• 1 Cup Granulated White Sugar
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1 egg
• 1 Tablespoon Baking Powder
• 3 cups All-Purpose Flour

For the Icing –

• 2 Cups Powdered Sugar
• 1 Tablespoon Vanilla
• 2 Tsp Milk
• Food Coloring

How to make the cookies –

First, you will want to preheat your oven to 350° F.

Next, in a large bowl, mix the butter and sugar until smooth.

Then beat in the egg.

Next, add the vanilla and mix completely.

In a separate bowl combine baking powder with the flour. Add a little flour mixture to the sugar mixture and mix completely.

Repeat this process until all the flour mixture is combined with the sugar mixture.

Unlike other sugar cookie recipes, do not chill this dough. The dough will be very stiff.

Take your dough and roll it out onto a nonstick surface or use a piece of parchment paper. You will want to keep these cookies thick so do not roll the dough out too thin.

With your cookie cutters cut out the cookies and place on a cookie sheet.

Bake your cookies for 8-10 minutes.

Let your cookies cool on the cookie sheet until firm enough to transfer to a cooling rack.

How to make the icing –

While cookies are cooling, it’s time to make the icing.

Mix together the milk and powdered sugar.

Add vanilla.
