Who is excited that in less than 2 weeks Moana will be hitting the big screen? We are! In fact, Peyton and I will be in Disney World a few days after the release of Moana and we are hoping we can meet her! I’m really excited to see Moana. When I visited Hawaii I fell in love with the islands, the people and the culture. My dream is to take Peyton to Hawaii so she can experience it for herself.
Moana is the 16-year-old daughter of the chief of Motunui. She’s a strong willed young lady that lives in the Pacific Islands. All her life she has been told not to go beyond the reef and she’s always wondered why. She feels drawn to explore, drawn to go beyond the reef.
The film introduces a very special presence in Moana’s life: the Ocean—a living embodiment of the sea who’s chosen Moana to find Maui and return the heart of Te Fiti, saving her island and her people from the darkness that has begun to take over. The only problem is that Chief Tui, Moana’s father, forbids voyaging beyond the safety of the reef that lies just beyond their shores. Tui has seen too many voyage past the reef— and never return—and out of love for his people, has forbade it. Moana must go against her father’s wishes to pursue her destiny set forth by the Ocean.
This is the main basis of Moana. She’s a free-spirited girl that has a quest. She has been chosen to fix the issues plaguing her people. If she can find Maui and return the heart of Te Fiti then the darkness that has been taking over will be defeated.
I know Moana doesn’t come out till the week of Thanksgiving but you should start making plans now. Need somewhere to send the husband and kids while you clean the house for company? Send them to Moana!
Moana is opening nationwide on November 23rd.
