I don’t know about you, but my weeknights are crazy busy. When I get done at 5 pm with my job, I rush straight to Peyton’s school and pick her up. I have to be there by 6 pm or there’s extra fees and what not. So I try to hurry as fast as I can, I usually show up around 5:30-5:45 depending on traffic. Now that I have Peyton, it’s time to head home and feed the dogs. The first half hour we are home it’s busy! Check the mail, feed the dogs, feed the cats and see if there’s anything that needs immediate tending to. Then it’s time to start dinner! I may have fed all the animals but I still have to feed the humans! That’s where Green Chef comes in. It’s an all organic meal delivery service.
And I must say, it’s one of a kind. All the ingredients are certified organic by CCOF. Every ingredient is fresh and sustainably sourced. No synthetic pesticides.
No genetically modified organisms. No artificial ingredients. No growth hormones or antibiotics. You are feeding your kids the quality of food that you would expect if you grew it yourself in your own backyard. However, they did they all the work.
There are a few different menu options. You can choose from Omnivore, Carnivore, Gluten-Free, Paleo, Vegan or Vegetarian. We chose the Omnivore, we’re adventurous eaters so I wanted to see what a plant-based dish would be.
When the Green Chef box arrived and I opened it the first thing I noticed was everything was nicely packed inside the box. And the ingredients were fresh. I also noticed how some of the vegetables were already prepped for me! Like the onion, it was chopped and added with the seasoning blends, ready to used. And any dish that called for a sauce, the sauce was already made. Righ there, that’s a huge time saver. But I must admit, as I was taking everything out of the box, I started to feel overwhelmed. While everything was in little baggies, there were a lot of little baggies! How was I going to figure out what baggie went with each recipe?? I started to panic. Then I picked up the recipe card and read it through, they are color coded!
Each recipe card will have a different color, mine were orange, blue and like a teal. The ingredients will have labels with the same colors. When you are ready to make a dish, simply grab the card, look at the color and then gather all the baggies and containers with that color. It really is that easy.
As for making each dish, I would say they are on the fairly easy side. I enjoy to cook and do spend a fair amount in the kitchen, so I found these recipes extremely easy. But I would think anyone that can follow directions will be able to make these meals. It’s a great way to learn how to make a few new dishes, explore new flavors and have healthy, organic ingredients delivered to your door!
Right now, if you sign up on Green Chef, they are giving you two free meals! So try it out, I promise it’ll make your weeknight dinner dilemma disappear!
