A More Restful Night’s Sleep

Peyton's Momma Product DisclosureI have a king size bed. Before I had Peyton I swore that I would not have a family bed. I swore that my child would sleep in her own bed. That philosophy lasted all of 5 seconds once Peyton was born.  At first, I just had a bassinet by my bed. I told myself it was for ease of night feeding. Then she got too big for the bassinet, I switched her to a travel crib. When she was close to a year old I decided to move her to her crib. That lasted a few months.

Over the years, Peyton has been in and out of her own bed. She has a wonderful bedroom with a full-size bed but somehow she ends up in my bed with me most nights. I’ve given up. I also have pets. They too end up in bed. So we have a family bed. I never thought it would happen but it did. And I guess I am ok with it. But I do have a complaint about these sleeping arrangements.

I have a hard time getting a good nights sleep. Often I am woken up with Peyton being restless or a cat walking on me or even my own discomfort. I have a king size mattress with the traditional spring coils. I can feel every movement. Every. Single. Movement. But I am not ready to invest in a new mattress. Is there another solution? Yes.Advanced Sleep Solutions 2 inch memory foam mattress topperA memory foam mattress topper. That is the solution I decided to try. This is a 2″ Visco Elastic Memory Foam Mattress topper. It was very easy to incorporate into our bedding. I stripped the bed down to the mattress, placed the topper on the mattress and then placed my water proof mattress protector on top. Why on top? I had two reasons –

  1. I have a small child. Occasionally she may have an accident in bed, get sick in bed or spill something in bed. I wanted to protect my new topper as well as my mattress.
  2. I have pets and I don’t trust them.

Once I had the mattress protector on I made the bed like I normally would. Fresh sheets and clean blankets. Peyton and I both noticed the difference in the bed the very first night.

I noticed how I did not feel Peyton moving and shifting as much throughout the night. I still knew she was there but I was not woken up because she moved. Now I would wake up when she kicked me in her sleep.

Sebastian seemed to notice the difference too. Normally he sleeps on me or a pillow but that first night he slept on the mattress. He even sprawled out!

The next morning I felt more rested. I wasn’t woken up as many times throughout the night. I wasn’t sure if it was a fluke. I was hoping it wasn’t. But on with my day I went.

Later that night, I was interested to see if we would have the same experience. Again, Peyton got into bed. She watched her show and went to sleep. When Sebastian came to bed he sprawled out at the foot of the bed. It was the second night in a row I was not going to bed with a kid and cat on top of me. I actually had some space!Advanced Solutions King Size Memory Foam Mattress TopperNow, fast forward a month. We’ve been using the Advanced Sleep Solutions Memory Foam Topper and still loving it. We are all still sleeping in the same bed. (I can’t get rid of them. I tried. But they keep coming back!) I am sleeping better than without the topper. Now I even work in bed at times. The mattress topper helps to ease pressure from sitting up in bed. I no longer have a sore lower back from typing in bed!

If you are looking for a way to make your bed more comfortable, ease joint pain and get a better night’s sleep you should consider a memory foam mattress topper.  Advanced Sleep Solutions mattress topper is made out of 2″ Visco Elastic Memory Foam and has cooling technology. It’s also odorless and has a 3-year warranty plus a 60-day money back guarantee. You have nothing to loose except restless nights.

That’s a great choice of a mattress Shanna, I know you and Peyton will have a good night sleep because I have the same mattress.
