Wind Cave National Park: Scenic Cave Tour

Boxwork at Wind Cave National Park

Peyton discovered cave tours last year when I took her on one in southern Minnesota. From that moment on, she has been begging to go on more cave tours. South Dakota has several guided tours available to the public at various caves. Since we were already exploring Wind Cave National Park I decided to take the kids on tour through Wind Cave. There are several tours available at Wind Cave National Park with various degrees of skill difficulties. Because Peyton is only 6 years old I decided to take ...

Wind Cave National Park

Wind Cave National Park

While we were visiting South Dakota I wanted to spend some time in the National Parks. There are a few different parks you can visit while in the Rapid City area. Unfortunately, time flew by and we were only able to fit in one National Park. Wind Cave National Park is located just a short 10-minute drive from Custer, South Dakota. Wind Cave National Park is considered a smaller national park in comparison with other parks, it's about 28,294 acres. The park is set into sections for camping, ...

Digger to the Rescue

Digger to the Rescue by Mandy Archer and Martha Lightfoot

Do you have a little one obsessed with big trucks or construction machines? I remember when Peyton was little her face would lite up every time we passed a construction site. It was a bonus if we were stuck in traffic and she was able to peer through the windows and watch the men work. In Digger to the Rescue, we meet Bear and get to follow him while he works with a digger all day. We first see Bear arriving at work. Bear works construction so his workplace is a construction site! Digger was ...

Change the Way You Do Laundry

Crystal Wash

With a young child and pets in the home I do laundry every single day. Before I became a mom I never really thought much about the laundry detergent I used. I just wanted something affordable that worked. But once I became a parent I didn’t look at laundry detergent the same. Children have sensitive skin so I felt forced into buying the extremely expensive baby laundry detergent. All that did was clog up my washer because it's so thick! Then as Peyton became older I started looking into all the ...

Is It a Bear? Or a Ball?

One day, a little boy named Max came home from school with a project. He needed to create a toy. But there were a few requirements. It had to be lots of fun Both, boys and girls would want to play with it. Kids of all ages would like it. It would inspire your imagination. That sounds like a pretty long list for a toy to satisfy. But Max was up for the challenge. So after lots of thought, Max had an idea. For the toys to satisfy everything on the list it would have be 2 toys in ...

Seed to Sunflower

Seed to Sunflower

This past summer Peyton and I tried our hand at gardening together. It wasn't a complete bust but it wasn't a success either. Yes, we grew some plants but only harvested a few cucumbers. In Seed to Sunflower your child will learn the life cycle of a sunflower. How a seed starts out, grows and then becomes a sunflower. At the start of Seed to Sunflower we learn about what a sunflower is and the anatomy of the plant. I think understanding plants is helpful when trying to grow plants. One thing ...
