Celebrate Valentine’s Day with PBS Kids

I remember when the only choice for weekday children shows was PBS. I grew up watching all the greats like Sesame Street and Mister Rogers Neighborhood. But now there’s so much more variety on PBS for little ones. There are even special themed Valentine’s Day episodes. Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood Would You Be Mine? and Word World Be My Valentine’s are both themed for Valentine’s Day and geared towards teaching children while entertaining them at the same time.

Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood Would You Be Mine? Word World Be My ValentineDaniel Tiger’s Neighborhood reminds me of Mister Roger’s Neighborhood. And Daniel Tiger is just too cute! In Would You Be My Valentine Daniel Tiger learns there are many ways to show people you love them. You can give them a hug, sing them a song, make them a card and so much more. Daniel receives a card and he doesn’t know who gave it to him. So he sets out to find the sender and thank them. Along the way he runs into many of his friends. None of them had given him the card but they had plenty of Valentine’s Day wishes to give him. But by the end of the day he finds out his Grandpere had given him the card!

There are 8 Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood tales included in Would You Be My Valentine including –

It’s Love Day!

Daniel’s Love Day Surprise

Daniel and Miss Elaina Play Rocketship

Daniel Plays at the Castle

Friends Help Each Other

Daniel Helps O Tell a Story

Margaret’s First Chime Time

Tiger Family Fun

Daniel Tiger is perfect for any preschooler you are looking to spoil this Valentine’s Day!

Peyton LOVES Word World. I can honestly say I had never watched it before but Peyton sure has. They watch it at school so she was super excited to see Be My Valentine.  And I was eager to see what my daughter had been watching so we sat down together and enjoyed the show. Within a few minutes I could see why kids love this show. All the objects, animals, everything are words! For example, Sheep looks like a sheep but you can clearly see he’s made up of the word sheep. What a clever way to teach kids to read! And they were also talking about rhyming and trying to sing a song that rhymed. Peyton was completely into this and was evening talking back to the tv.  I was really impressed with World Wold.

Included in Be My Valentine are 5 fun stories –

My Fuzzy Valentine

Love, Bug

Sh-Sh-Shark!

Princess Sheep

There’s an Ant in Every Giant

Word World is perfect for preschooler and kindergartners. They will be learning how to read while having a blast.

You can purchase Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood or Word World on PBS Kids.

My boys loved wordworld when they were little and used to do the dog dance. It was so cute to see them down on all 4’s and tapping their feet. They learned to read some words from it and also had fun while watching.
