I’m going to be honest and say I am not a fan of gingerbread. I know many of you are but I just cannot get on board with it. I’ve tried. Just like I have no clue why pumpkin spice has a cult following. I just do not understand it! So having me try out Gingerbread coffee was probably not the best idea but I had no say in what I was sent. So here we go!
Typically I’m pretty happy with Brooklyn Bean Roastery. The coffees have the caffeine level I like and I really like I can purchase Da Bomb and get even more caffeine! Perfect for us parents. 🙂 But I was not particularly impressed with the Gingerbread coffee.
When I first try out a new coffee I like to brew it on the smallest setting, so I brewed my first cup on the 6-ounce setting. I find this really gives me an idea of the true flavor and strength of the coffee. The Gingerbread coffee has a wonderful fragrance. It fills up the room with the scent of warm gingerbread cookies. I found that pleasant since we are in the holiday season. I thought about how I could brew a few cups before company comes over and they would think I had been baking! But then I remembered we wouldn’t have any gingerbread cookies so it’s would be seen through fairly quickly.
Once it was time to taste the Gingerbread Coffee I took a little sip, remember I’m not a fan of gingerbread anything. First thoughts, it was pretty weak and I could see lots of grounds floating around. I thought maybe it was my Keurig so I cleaned it out and brewed another cup. I had liked all my other flavors so I wanted to give the Gingerbread a second chance.
On my second cup of Gingerbread Coffee, I had the same experience. I found it to be very aromatic but not much flavor. I like a bolder, stronger coffee so I’m thinking this was just not a match for my taste buds.
I have found with many of Brooklyn Bean Roastery the flavored coffees have a subtle flavor and strong aromatic presence. For the most part, I do enjoy that. But for some reason, this Gingerbread Coffee and I were not hitting it off. If you love gingerbread I highly suggest you try it, you’ll probably like it. This one was just not for me.

Finally! Someone else who isn’t a gingerbread fan! That and pumpkin. I know, blasphemy. I received some k-cups that were pumpkin and marshmallow flavored and I’m going to give them to my SIL.

I don’t mind gingerbread, but not in my coffee!
