Can you believe there’s less than 100 days before Christmas?! This summer has flown by and fall is moving fast too. Before you know it, we will be sipping hot cocoa by the fire and reading Christmas books at bedtime. Itsy Bitsy Christmas by Max Lucado is a perfect night time story to read to your little one or have your little one read to you.
Peyton is in 1st grade now so she is participating in our night time reading. Typically I make her read to me every other night. And this is one of the stories she was eager to try reading to me.
I appreciated how Max Lucado kept the story light and universal. By that I mean he expresses that Jesus was given to all of us. He doesn’t segregate or isolate any one group of people. It’s a perfectly age appropriate for the preschooler and up crowd.
Some Christmas stories can be too preachy and judgemental but not Itsy Bitsy Christmas. Itsy Bitsy Christmas is told from the mouse’s perspective! These two little mice hear of Jesus’s birth and they set out to find him and see it for themselves. Along the way they are told they are too small and not important enough to meet Jesus. But before they give in and believe the rubbish they have been told they find Jesus!
I liked how Max Lucado took a new twist with the story of Jesus. The two little mice in the story are adorable! My daughter instantly fell in love with them and wanted to see them find Jesus. The book was a perfect fit for us. Peyton got to listen to a cute story with beautiful illustrations and learned a lesson or two. She learned about not giving up and following your dreams as well as a little religious message too. Jesus was for all of us.
You can find Itsy Bitsy Christmas in several formats on Amazon or at your local bookstore.
