Keep the House Clean with Kids

Having kids is a blessing, but the mess that comes with them isn’t! But it’s okay; it doesn’t mean you can’t have a safe and tidy home for your little ones. Follow these tips to keep your house clean with the kids.

Rise and shine!: Waking up before your children can be difficult if they wake up at the crack of dawn. But getting up just half an hour before your kids wake up will give you some time to clean up.

everythign has its placeEverything has a place: Label bins and baskets so your children can tidy away toys throughout the day. Organizing toys is a good way to get your kids to tidy throughout the day without having to tell them to. It’s also an excellent way to organize toys, and will make it easier for your children to know where everything is.

Accept it won’t be perfect: Don’t be too hard on yourself, or your kids. There will sometimes be a bit of mess, and occasionally you’ll find yourself standing on lego. But that’s okay. Learn you accept that some toys will be left out. It’ll put a lot less stress on yourself and your kids, and you’ll feel much happier.

Donate: Is there a basket of toys that your children haven’t played with for months? How about clothes that don’t even fit your little ones anymore? Every couple of months take a look around your home and see what you can give to charity. Throwing stuff out can be hard at first, but once you get going, you’ll find it hard to stop. You’ll also feel great about giving your unwanted toys and clothes to charity.

Lots of LaundryWeekly big clean day:Don’t get me wrong, cleaning as you go is always a good idea. But dedicating one day a week to having a deep clean is important. It’s one thing for your home to be tidy, but it’s another for it to be clean. Protect your little ones by keeping surfaces in your home clean. There are lots of natural cleaning products made especially for kids. You can buy cleaning kits here http://www.cleanhappens.com/.

Quit buying stuff you don’t need: Stop buying things you don’t need. Remember, just because there is space, doesn’t mean it needs to be filled. Every time that you find yourself filling up your shopping basket in the store think about if you need it. You’ll not only save lots of money, but you’ll also have less clutter in your home.

StockpilingPre-lunch sweep: Making daily sweeps is a good way to get a lot done in a short amount of time. If you and the kids all spend just ten minutes before lunch cleaning the area. Setting up a routine, such as cleaning just before lunch, is a good way to maintain consistency. After a few weeks, your kids will just know what is expected of them, and you won’t even have to ask.

Tip!: Don’t schedule your 10-minute cleaning session just before bed when the kids are ready to go to sleep.
Allow enough time: Don’t try and squeeze in a massive clean on a Sunday afternoon after a big meal. Consider how long it’s going to take before you schedule in some cleaning.
