Do you have a little one that struggles with falling to sleep every night? Peyton used to be horrible about going to bed. Well, she still is horrible about going to bed but at least she sleeps through the night. In Little Chick and the Secret of Sleep, we follow a little chick on his journey trying to find sleep. The little chick struggles with falling to sleep every night and wonders what the secret is.
One night, Little Chick is perched with her family. Everyone has fallen to sleep, except for Little Chick. So she looks out the peep hole and sees a big, bright moon and decides to take a closer look. When she arrives outside she sees a boat and decides maybe she should try sleeping in there. So Little Chick gets inside the boat and tries to fall to sleep. Nothing. Little Chick finds herself staring up at the moon while floating on the water. Little Chick finally asked out loud what the secret was to sleeping. And the moon answered!
The moon said he would show Little Chick the secret. So off they went to Monkey Island. There, Little Chick met a lonely monkey. The monkey explained how he rarely slept because he was so lonely he never used up much energy. So they played and played until the monkey was exhausted and fell fast to sleep. But Little Chick still was not tired!
Throughout the story, we follow Little Chick trying to find out what the secret to sleep is. The moon takes Little Chick on a journey where she will meet many new friends. Each friend has a small part of the secret. By the end of the story, Little Chick has made a few new friends and learned the secret to sleep. We end the story with Little Chick arriving home with her new friends in tow. Little Chick explains to her mother what the secret to sleep is and then settles down to go to sleep herself.
