This is our last lemonade recipe for our Minnesota State Fair series. It has been so much fun making them this past month and enjoying them! I know Peyton’s favorite part has been enjoying each one. Though out of all the lemonades we made this month I would have to say this one and the Strawberry Pineapple Lemonade were my favorites. This strawberry lemonade is extremely simple to make. I think making a simple syrup really made the difference in having a smooth lemonade. If you like the gritty fresh-squeezed lemonade skip making the simple syrup and just pour your water and sugar together and stir.
To make strawberry lemonade at home you will need the following –
2 C Fresh Lemon Juice (about 5-8 large lemons)
2 C Sugar
4 1/2 C Water
2 C Strawberries
First, you are going to make the simple syrup. Take 3 C of water and bring to a boil. Once the water is boiling, add in the sugar and stir until dissolved and clear. Remove from the burner and set aside to cool.
Next, juice your lemons until you have 2 C of lemon juice. You can strain your lemon juice but you don’t have to. I strained mine because the kids do not like the pulp or seeds.
Combine the simple syrup and lemon juice, stir well.
Cut off the stems of the strawberries and place them in the blender. Add 1 C of water and blend until smooth. If your kids do not like seeds you’ll want to strain this mixture as well to remove the small strawberry seeds.
Combine the strawberries with the lemonade and stir well.
Place in the fridge and chill. It’ll take a few hours for the strawberry lemonade to chill because of the simple syrup.
Serve over ice with some strawberry and lemon garnishes. You can even add a little fresh mint.
Don’t forget to check back tomorrow to see what Minnesota State Fair inspired food we are making. Also, be sure to check out our other state fair recipes.
