I remember a time in my childhood when I would spend the day in The Berenstain Bears town at a local amusement park. I just loved playing in that huge tree! Recently I took my daughter to the local amusement park because I wanted her to experience the same feeling of playing in The Berenstain Bears world like did. But it wasn’t there! They have changed it to another cartoon character. I was extremely disappointed. Even though I cannot share the experience of running through the tree house with Peyton and I can still share The Berenstain Bears books with her.
In the newest book The Berenstain Bears Mother’s Day Blessings the cubs are about to celebrate Mother’s Day. Throughout the book we see mother’s being celebrated while they work. In some ways I thought it was good for a child to see that mom’s work very hard and a lot. But on the other hand we are supposed to be celebrated mother’s so why not focus on how appreciative we are of our mothers. I feel there could’ve been another way to run with the story where the focus was on celebrating mother’s and not so much about celebrating mother’s while they are working.
If you have a Berenstain Bears fan in the house you will enjoy this book. It’s a great book for children to help them understand us mother’s do a lot for our families. In my opinion this is more of book that you would read to your child because some of the words can be challenging to new readers. There are also 24 pages so a kindergartner could feel overwhelmed reading the book to you on thier own. Peyton and I did read it together and we each took turns reading a page. That really seemed to work well. I would also jump in for the bigger words and help her sound them out.
You can pick up a copy of The Berenstain Bears Mother’s Day Blessings on Amazon or your local bookstore.
