Easy Turkey Sandwich Bento Box Lunch for Kids

Easy Turkey Sandwich Bento Box Lunch for Kids

Sometimes the best school lunches are the simplest ones. While cookie cutters and fun shapes make lunchtime exciting, there are plenty of mornings when a classic turkey sandwich is exactly what everyone needs.

This easy turkey sandwich bento box comes together in about 10 minutes and includes a balanced mix of protein, fruit, vegetables, and yogurt. It’s perfect for busy school mornings when you want something quick that your child will actually eat.

Turkey sandwich bento box with quartered turkey and Colby Jack sandwiches, blueberries, blackberries, baby carrots with ranch dressing, and strawberry yogurt packed in a colorful lunchbox.

A Classic Turkey Sandwich

The star of today’s lunch is a simple turkey and Colby Jack cheese sandwich.

Instead of using cookie cutters, I simply cut the sandwich into quarters so it fit neatly inside the bento box. Cutting sandwiches into smaller pieces also makes them easier for younger kids to handle during lunchtime.

You can make this sandwich with:

  • Oven roasted turkey
  • Smoked turkey
  • Honey turkey
  • Colby Jack cheese
  • Cheddar
  • Swiss
  • Provolone

Choose your child’s favorite bread, whether it’s white, wheat, or whole grain.

Fresh Berries

Blueberries and blackberries add natural sweetness while providing plenty of vitamins and antioxidants.

Fresh berries are one of our favorite lunchbox fruits because they’re easy to pack and don’t require peeling or much preparation.

Other great fruit choices include:

  • Strawberries
  • Grapes
  • Mandarin oranges
  • Apple slices
  • Kiwi

Baby Carrots with Ranch

Adding vegetables to lunch can sometimes be the biggest challenge.

This lunch includes baby carrots with ranch dressing for dipping. Packing vegetables with a favorite dip often encourages kids to give them another try.

Other vegetables that work well include:

  • Cucumber slices
  • Bell pepper strips
  • Snap peas
  • Cherry tomatoes
  • Celery sticks

If your child isn’t a fan of carrots, don’t worry. Every child has different tastes, and trying different vegetables is all part of finding what works best for your family.

Strawberry Yogurt

Instead of packing candy or cookies, I included strawberry yogurt as the finishing touch.

Yogurt adds calcium and protein while still feeling like a fun treat.

Other yogurt flavors that pack well include:

  • Vanilla
  • Blueberry
  • Mixed berry
  • Peach
  • Raspberry

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make a turkey sandwich the night before?

Yes! Assemble the sandwich the evening before and keep it refrigerated until morning. It stays fresh and makes busy mornings easier.

How do you keep ranch dressing from leaking?

Bento boxes with sealed compartments work well for small amounts of dressing. You can also use a leakproof dipping container.

What vegetables go well with turkey sandwiches?

Baby carrots, cucumbers, celery, bell peppers, snap peas, and cherry tomatoes are all great lunchbox vegetables.

How do I keep berries fresh in a lunchbox?

Wash and dry them thoroughly before packing. Keeping berries dry helps them stay fresh longer.
