Just in time for National Woman’s Day, Captain Marvel is hitting theaters nationwide! Peyton and I had the pleasure of taking in Captian Marvel earlier this week. I am so glad we did! First, we love Marvel everything so there was no way we were not seeing Captian Marvel when it hit theaters. Second, this is Marvel’s first stand-alone, female-franchise title character—Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel with a female lead. That’s right, the hero is a woman! I mean, I know you all knew that but for those that don’t keep up on all things Marvel I wanted to point that out. Black Widow does not have her own film (though fingers crossed one day she does).
What really captivated us about Captian Marvel is you are transported back in time to the 1990s where we get to see a young Nick Fury!!! This is before Nick Fury got all wrapped up in the Avengers. He’s skeptical, he seems like he’s still pretty new. And we also get to see Agent Coulson. He looks like he’s straight out of the academy! Oh, and the music is some of the best 90s music there was at the time. I know I really enjoyed the musical selection throughout the movie.
I’m not going to give away any spoilers but Peyton is insisting I share with you this. Keep an eye on Goose, he’s the orange tabby in the film. Let’s just say he is a scene steeler! Goose was Peyton’s favorite character.
Bottom line, this is a must-see film. If you are a Marvel fan you’ll want to take it in so you can see how it ties into to the next Avenger film coming out in a few months. Little tip, do not leave the theater when the credits start to roll. Stay put. Trust me. And if you’re not a Marvel fan, that’s ok, we won’t judge. Well, actually we will. First, you need to go take in Captian Marvel and then you need to clear your weekend and watch all the Marvel films as well as series. I cannot fathom how you’ve made it through life and not seen them? Captain Marvel is a great film that can stand all on its own. You do not need to have seen any of the other Marvel films to understand Captian Marvel. But if you have seen the other Marvel movies there are tie ins all over the place. It’s mind blowing how things in this film tie into other Marvel films that we’ve already seen and will tie into Marvel movies coming out or have yet to be made.
Also, don’t forget to check out our recipes for Captian Marvel Popcorn and Jumbo Captain Marvel Cupcakes. Both are very yummy!
