This past summer Peyton started asking questions about God and Jesus. At first I was taken off guard. It’s not that I don’t have faith it’s just when she was born getting to church on a
regular basis was difficult. And then we moved so I was not a member of any church within an hour radius of our new home. I’m a single mom and time flies by fast when you are doing it all by yourself. So when she started asking that’s when I realized I needed to find her a place to connect with God.
So I started researching churches. I must have called over a dozen and only 2 returned my calls. I enrolled Peyton in Sunday school and this past fall we started to attend church 2-3 times a month. But it was not going well. Peyton was not feeling a connection and I was feeling frustrated. I was struggling with exposing my daughter to God and Jesus and letting her develop her own faith.
When I saw the opportunity to read a book written for kids about Jesus that included a doll I knew I had to try it. Jesus Sees Us is right up my daughter’s alley. She loves dolls and she loves books. And I was right. When the package arrived with Jesus and his book Peyton immediately took off with it. She was so thrilled.
That night we read the book together. It’s not a book that can be read in one sitting. I like to read a page and then Peyton and I talk about it. It’s a great conversation starter and it really helps her relate her faith to her life. Jesus Sees Us does an amazing job at teaching the bible in a way that connects with kids. The illustrations are wonderful. They say pictures can speak louder than words and with the Jesus Sees Us book it does. One page shows how Jesus reacts and the next page shows children in a similar situation. A child can easily identify with it.
I highly recommend this book for any family wanting to expose their little ones to Jesus. It’s a fun and interactive way to get them interested in their faith.
