Can it be done? Can one person drive straight through from Minnesota to Bowling Green, Kentucky in one day? It’s nearly a 12-hour drive without any hiccups.  That’s a long drive. But I did it! That’s exactly what I did when I took Peyton to Bowling Green, Kentucky over MEA break. We drove the whole… [Continue Reading]

  • Wall Drug

Stopping at Wall Drug is a must if you are in South Dakota. I had never been before so I wasn’t sure what to expect. When we arrived, immediately I felt overwhelmed. Thank goodness we visited during the off-season, I don’t think I could’ve driven Wall Drug during peak season. It would’ve been way too… [Continue Reading]

The weather is supposed to start cooling off soon and fall is right around the corner. But there’s still plenty of time to get out there and enjoy some of this beautiful weather. Georgia is beautiful year-round but in the fall it’s the perfect time to get out and do a little hiking or exploring.… [Continue Reading]

  • ValleyFair is BACK!!!

ValleyFair is back! It’s been a long time since we’ve been able to walk through the turnstiles and enjoy a day at ValleyFair. I was extremely excited when I heard they were opening at the end of May. Last year we definitely felt a void in our summer without our beloved ValleyFair. So we could… [Continue Reading]

  • Christmas Village

It’s always Christmas time at Christmas Village in Rapid City, South Dakota. Christmas is one of my favorite holidays. I love decorating our tree, the home and our walkway. It’s something Peyton and I have been doing together since the day she was born. Granted, when she was a baby she sat and watched. But… [Continue Reading]

  • A Little Throwback to Sea World

One of my fondest memories growing up was the vacation my grandparents took me on to Sea World. I was about 6 years old and it was my first time to a park with sea animals. Oh boy was I excited! Back in 1983, Sea World was a lot different than it is now. I… [Continue Reading]

  • Crazy Horse

South Dakota is steeped in history, it’s one of the main reasons I chose to take the kids here for MEA break. After visiting Mount Rushmore  we headed over to Crazy Horse. It’s only about a 15-20 minute drive. Crazy Horse is a privately funded memorial surviving on donations from the public. It’s a shame there is… [Continue Reading]

Dinosaur Turkey and Cheese Bento Box

Dinosaur Turkey and Cheese Bento Box

According to Peyton this is one of her favorite Bento Boxes because of Little Foot Sandwiches. Peyton is obsessed with The Land Before Time and Little Foot, the long neck dinosaur.  Making a dinosaur sandwich is pretty simple. I used thinly sliced turkey breast, thin sliced Colby Jack cheese and whole wheat bread. But you can use any type of meat, cheese or even peanut butter and jelly. Then I used the dinosaur cutter to cut the sandwich into 2 dinosaur shapes. We had some fresh strawberries ...

Walmart Beauty Box Summer 2016

Aveeno, Pantene, Jergens, Nivea, Degree, Caress

I had taken a break on getting the Walmart Beauty Box for about 6 months. But I heard there were some changes so I wanted to check it out for myself and see what it was like now.  It's still $5 and ships once every season. Currently, they are on the summer box.  It also looks like there may be variations between boxes but it doesn't tell you what would be different and there are no boxes to choose from. You just fill out your contact information, shipping and payment info. This is what I ...

Dolphin Peanut Butter and Jelly Bento Box

Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches are a staple in many households. But how do you make them fun? By getting a cookie or sandwich cutter and turning them into a unique shape! Today I made Peyton Dolphin shaped Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches. It's really easy. Just make the sandwich like you normally would and then take the cookie/sandwich cutter and turn it into a shape. Go light on the jelly because it will spill out if there's too much. Next up, I had to choose a fruit and since we had ...

Would a Worm Go On a Walk

What a cute book! If you have a preschooler or kindergartner at home, Would a Worm Go On a Walk is sure to be a hit. Filled with intricate, colorful, engaging illustrations your little one will be drawn right in. The second Peyton saw the cover she wanted to read more.  So we sat down together and I read her the book. Throughout the story, we find out why a worm would not go for a walk, why a piglet would not play piano, why a ladybug would not wear lipstick and so many more things animals ...
