  • Custer County Candy Company

On our trip through South Dakota, we stumbled across an adorable old fashioned candy store. The Custer County Candy Company is located in Custer just a 15 minuted drive from Wind Cave National Park. It’s right off the main drag, tucked back just a little ways off the street. If you see a huge metal… [Continue Reading]

  • Explore the Lincoln Park Zoo

Another place I had never been on all my travel to Illinois was the Lincoln Park Zoo.  It’s a free zoo so I’m not sure why we’ve never visited but I decided we were going to check it out this time. Spending the day at the zoo is one of Peyton’s and my favorite things… [Continue Reading]

Every weekend I look for food trucks that will be in our local area. Since the Minnesota State Fair was canceled and we can’t really travel much, finding and trying out new food trucks every weekend has kinda become our thing. Farewell To Your Child’s Bedtime Fears

I think all children go through the stage of having trouble sleeping. And once your kid is having sleep trouble, it can be a nightmare for you. After all, you can be upstairs for ages trying to soothe your little one to sleep. And you might end up getting up several times in the night. In fact, it can feel like you have a newborn all over again! But if you would like your bed back, there are some ways to calm your child’s fears. Therefore, here is how to say farewell to your child’s bedtime ...

More Than 10 lbs Down and Still Going!

Nutrisystem Week 4

What a month!! I'm loving Nutrisystem and all the amazing things that are coming because of my weight loss goals. So it's been 4 weeks that I have been working my plan. Mind you, I've been busy so I haven't had a chance to add in exercise but I have been journaling EVERYTHING I eat and using my fit bit to make sure I am burning 1,000 or more calories a day than I am consuming. I read somewhere that you need to burn at least 1,000 calories more than you take in if you want to lose a pound or more ...

Getting Back To Nature

Cooking while Camping

As you already know, my family and I love camping out in the great outdoors. It's such a good way of getting away from it all and connecting with nature again. But to have a good time you need to make sure that you are set with the right gear. Things like your tent, footprint, water carriers and the like. That got me thinking about which items are absolutely essential for any camping trip, and this is what I came up with. Tent This one is pretty obvious but is always worth checking twice ...

Mom The Bookworm: Getting Back Into Reading After Having A Child

For some, reading novels will never be a love. It will be something they just don’t understand the pleasure of, utterly unable to grasp why literature seems to entrance so many.  For everyone else… you just get it. Sitting down with a good book is like the beginning of a wonderful journey; one you can take from the comfort of your own home. You can sit with a cup of tea, a book in hand, and travel through your imagination in a way that no other form of entertainment ...

A Dog’s Purpose Giveaway

A Dog's Purpose

Alright, grab a box of tissues and get ready to bawl. Peyton had been so excited to see A Dog's Purpose. She has been talking about it nonstop for months. So when it finally arrived, she made me sit down and watch it. Like the minute it arrived. Going into it, all I knew is it was a movie about a dog. I had no idea that I would be crying off and on for the duration of the movie! Or that Peyton would make fun of me for crying! A Dog's Purpose is an extremely touching and emotional movie. The ...

Say Goodbye Size 16

Well, I just finished week 3 on Nutrisystem. I'll admit, it was hard to stay positive when I worked so hard the previous week and only went down 1 pound. But I stuck with it. I kept working the program. And guess what?? This week I'm down 3 pounds!! That's 3 whole pounds of fat gone. It's outta here! I also had another huge milestone this week, I got to say goodbye to size 16 and hello size 14! That's right, 3 weeks on the program and I'm down 1 whole size. My total lost to date is 9 pounds. ...
