  • A Guide to Hawaii Food Culture

Hawaii’s food culture is a rich tapestry woven from its diverse ethnic heritage, abundant natural resources, and deep-rooted traditions. This unique culinary landscape offers a feast for the senses, blending flavors and techniques from Polynesia, Asia, and the mainland United States into something distinctly Hawaiian. Whether you’re savoring a traditional luau feast or grabbing a… [Continue Reading]

  • Christmas Village

It’s always Christmas time at Christmas Village in Rapid City, South Dakota. Christmas is one of my favorite holidays. I love decorating our tree, the home and our walkway. It’s something Peyton and I have been doing together since the day she was born. Granted, when she was a baby she sat and watched. But… [Continue Reading]

  • A Night at Medieval Times

I am always looking for new and unique experiences to take Peyton to. And when I saw Medieval Times, I knew I wanted to take her! How cool would it be to sit in a castle, watch knights jousting and have dinner? It sounded so cool. The only problem is, there is no castle in… [Continue Reading]

  • Wind Cave National Park

While we were visiting South Dakota I wanted to spend some time in the National Parks. There are a few different parks you can visit while in the Rapid City area. Unfortunately, time flew by and we were only able to fit in one National Park. Wind Cave National Park is located just a short… [Continue Reading]

If you’ve followed us for a while, you probably know Peyton is obsessed with The Land Before Time. She owns every single movie and episode ever made. Even the one that came out earlier this year! When I found out there was a dinosaur park in Rapid City I knew it was going to be… [Continue Reading]

  • Escape to the Windy City for the Weekend

The Chicago area is one of our favorite destinations. It’s only 5 hours from home and full of museums, zoos, attractions and more. It’s the perfect change of scenery for the weekend. On our most recent trip, we stayed in Elk Grove Village, Illinois. It’s just a short drive outside of Chicago, however, it’s centrally… [Continue Reading]

  • ValleyFair is BACK!!!

ValleyFair is back! It’s been a long time since we’ve been able to walk through the turnstiles and enjoy a day at ValleyFair. I was extremely excited when I heard they were opening at the end of May. Last year we definitely felt a void in our summer without our beloved ValleyFair. So we could… [Continue Reading]

5 Reasons You Want a Ram 1500

Growing up I always thought only farmers or construction workers drove trucks. But now, I know better. When looking at the Ram 1500 I don't have visions of construction sites or farm fields, I see family road trips, weekend home and garden projects and more. The Ram1500 is a family car, yes I said it, family car. The quad cab can easily fit 2 infant car seats without sacrificing the comfort of the driver and passenger. Trust me, I know because I tried this when I was in Atlanta last October. We ...

Valentine’s Fizzy Bath Salts

Valentine's Day is right around the corner. It'll be here before you know it. I don't know about you, but at my daughter's school, they are not allowed to have candy in the school or give it as gifts. So I'm looking for some cute candy-free alternatives for teacher gifts. This Valentine's Fizzy Bath Salts is a great alternative! To make this Valentine's Fizzy Bath Salts - 1 ounce Epsom Salts 2 ounces Baking Soda 1 ounce Cornstarch 1 ounce Citric Acid 1-2 drops Cherry Soap Colorant 15 ...

Easing Dental Anxiety in Your Child

Today is the big day! Peyton has her 6 months cleaning at the dentist. She's been going since she was three years old to the dentist but not every visit has been a positive experience. In fact, all those negative experiences have led to dental anxiety. Too often we have had to deal with impatient dental hygienists or dentists that have felt children should just let them do what they need to do and be quiet. Well, all that rough and gruff treatment has finally caught up. Peyton now has severe ...

Copycat Chipotle Carnitas

Peyton loves the carnitas at Chipolte. She always orders a carnitas burrito every time we go.  I'll admit I am partial to their steak but I wanted to make carnitas at home for Peyton so I gave it a shot. Plus, making it in a big batch is perfect for family get-togethers. I actually made this exact recipe for my grandmother's 90th birthday party and it was a huge hit. While it tastes just like Chipotle's carnitas it is a little juicier or moist which was a huge hit.  Plus it makes reheating this ...

Penguin Cupcakes

My nephew is obsessed with penguins. He's been a huge penguin fan for as long as I can remember. And it just happens to be his birthday this month. So I made him some penguin cupcakes! They are much easier than they look but I will warn you they are time-consuming.  But the cuteness totally makes up for all the time you'll spend on details. To make these adorable penguin cupcakes you will need the following - 7 cupcakes 4 plain mini donuts 1 can vanilla frosting 7 plain donut holes 1 ...

Addams Family Giveaway!

I grew up watching the Addams Family every week. I LOVED that show. Lurch was definitely my favorite. I always wished I had a butler like him. And I always wanted my own Thing too. But, it never happened in my childhood. I never got my own butler or Thing. When I saw they were making Addams Family into a movie I could not wait to take Peyton to it. One of my favorite childhood families was coming to the big screen and I couldn't wait to enjoy it with her. And we did! We loved watching it on ...
